Olivias belongs to Olivia - She is now 6.
She has holidayed at our houses since she was a baby.... and then her Mummy and Daddy asked us to turn the cottage they bought in Charlestown into a Pearl...
We finished its extensive restoration on Friday 30th March 2012.
..the comments in the guest book say what I had hoped they might...
Olivias is on the top deck, over looking Charlestown Harbour, out to Sea, and it is an absolute beauty...
Olivias is a little cottage at the end of a Georgian terrace in Charlestown, 100 yards from the Sea.. It is decorated to the exquisitely high standards you would expect from Antonia and David.
Olivias sleeps 4 in maritime bliss.
Built in the late 1700s, the tiny port of Charlestown is largely unchanged and has been granted UNESCO World Heritage Status.
The beaches, either side of the Quay, are an easy stroll. Amble over the Quay's lock gate to the Hotel for a crab sarnie on their terrace or stay at home in the lovingly planted sunny courtyard garden.
Charlestown is approximately 10 minutes from both the Eden Project and the Lost Gardens of Heligan. It is also ideally situated for visiting Fowey, the Maritime Museum in Falmouth, the Tate at St Ives, and Padstow, with Rick Stein's restaurants. The Airport at Newquay and Jamie Oliver's restaurant Fifteen are a short drive, and it is 10 minutes to the train station (mainline from Paddington).
There are two bedrooms (a king and a double). Both bedrooms have style, comfort and attention to detail. The sheets are from the White Company and are the most fabulous Egyptian cotton percale (the duvet, pillows and towels are all from the White Company too). There are hair dryers, clocks, blankets and sewing kits in each bedroom.
The slate floored kitchen has all the modern appliances you would expect, ceramic hob, electric oven, fridge, microwave, dishwasher, WiFi and landline phone and hopefully everything else you might need. The washing machine, tumble dryer, iron and ironing board are in the laundry cupboard in the extension....
Dine in cosy candlelight at the table in the sitting room, warmed by the wood burner and catch the sun rising with an alfresco breakfast in the front lawned garden.
The oak floored sitting room has a pair of tiny sofas beside the wood burner. The television has a built in DVD, and there is a radio/CD, both of which are digital.
The bathroom is in the modern extension, so it seemed appropriate to kit it out appropriatley... with a bath and a shower and the softest towels to wrap up in after a good long soak.
There are all sorts of things you might like to use if you are bringing preschool kids to Olivias such as a buggy, socket covers, anti door slammers, a baby monitor, a steriliser, a changing mat, stair gates, a high chair, a play mat, a travel cot with sheets and waterproof mattress protectors, plates and bowls, tumblers, knives, forks and spoons, a potty, a baby bath, a hand held food whizzer, and a few toys...
